Remodeling the Rental House

We are in the midst of updating and installing a new bathroom in our rental house….well, it isn’t exactly a rental, our son lives in it but according to the property tax folks and the names on the home loan, it’s ours.  The house is over 100 years old, has old bathroom fixtures and leaky pipes.  It sits on a hill and overlooks the Missouri River.

The bathroom is the first major project that we’ve undertaken….the stool and vanity are in, but are still looking for a mirror medicine cabinet and will also put in a bathroom linen cabinet. I prefer medicine cabinets that are good-sized and have three mirrored glass  panels with movable shelves on the inside.  With movable shelves you can adjust the shelves to fit large shampoo bottles or smaller for medicines and deodorants.

The bathroom is really big but did not have a linen closet.  The bathroom linen cabinet we have in mind has two pull-out drawers and two doors.  It’s large enough to hold towels and large personal items that won’t fit in the medicine cabinet.  Possibly a hamper for wet towels and dirty clothing.

While online searching for the cabinets, I found the neatest purple Queen comforter set.  Nope, not for the rental….for me!  After spending a long day, working my fingers to the bone on this computer hunting for online bargains,  I feel I deserve something…and we actually do need it.
