Unfortunately, this year, spring and early summer in Nebraska means rain, lots of it. When the rain stops, we have puddles. Mosquitoes love water puddles. Andrew, our three year old little grandson was covered with mosquito bites last week and just to be safe, we took him to his pediatrician. Lisa the doctor’s cute little nurse (looks straight out of high school) took us to the exam room….she is the fashion expert in the office and she was wearing a new set of hot pink scrubs. Lisa is a devotee of Blue Scrubs, a company known for Made in the USA quality and design and this was one of their newest colors, Pink Sorbet. This is a bright, girly pink which gives a more personal feminine touch to a medical scrub.
Andrew loves to go to his pediatrician…Dr. Dowl. Dr. Dowl has cared for Andrew since birth and seems like one of the family. He also dresses for the office….sometimes in a lab coat but most often in medical uniform tops and pants (he’s not into Sorbet Pink however). I think children are much more at ease with bright colors….not as scarey as the “old” days when nurses and doctors wore starched white uniforms and lab coats.
Andrew was given a shot, yep the ole hypo, and a prescription for anti-itch medicine. He had been scratching the mosquito bites pretty hard, and several had scabs forming. We spray the yard frequently trying to knock down the mosquito and other flying insects population but in truth, it’s a losing battle.
